Police release photo of two men after 'pitbull set on woman' as she rode horse in field

Jun 14, 2024

The horse rider was left with "non-life threatening or life-changing injuries" after being approached by the two suspects, who allegedly let the dog off its lead in a field in Altrincham

Police are trying to track down two men after a woman fell off her horse while being chased by a pit bull.

The rider was left injured after being approached by the suspects, who let the dog off its lead in a field close to 'The Moss' in Altrincham, Greater Manchester.

The animal pursued the horse, say police, causing the woman to fall off "at speed". The pair then fled the scene.

Officers have now released a photo of two men they would like to speak to and believe could help with their enquiries.

The incident took place at around 6.50pm on Thursday, July 6. PC Lee, from Greater Manchester Police's Trafford district, said: "This was a very frightening incident for the rider, who was hurt as a result of the dog running towards her.

"We are currently looking into all relevant lines of enquiry, and I would ask anyone who knows anything to please get in touch."

The image released by the force shows two men walking along a footpath, one wearing a grey hoodie and black shorts, and the other dressed in a black hoodie and trousers.
